Please join us for our next Clinical Conversation, “Hypnotic Suggestions of Intuitive Eating and Body Acceptance versus Weight Loss.” This Clinical Conversation will discuss the 10 principles of “Intuitive Eating,” a concept coined by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995, which is an anti-diet approach to cultivate a healthier mindset and practice to feed one’s body.

By using one’s own intuition rather than a restrictive meal plan that often results in a feeling of failure, yo-yo weight loss and gain, binging, and low self-esteem and self-worth, this way of eating and thinking about food fosters acceptance of one’s body and trusting oneself, which ultimately allows clients to feel better about themselves and achieve the right weight for them. The conversation will include the harms of the diet industry, hypnosis for weight loss, and a culture of thinness that contribute to body dysmorphia, disordered eating, over-exercising, and eating disorders.

Metaphors, analogies, direct, and indirect hypnotic suggestions of body acceptance and intuitive eating will be presented and discussed, and then there will be time to practice using these hypnotic interventions in small groups.

This Clinical Conversation will be led by Nicole Wegweiser, LCSW, faculty of CHSNJ, as well as Lauren Dorman, RD.  It will be held on Sunday May 22nd, from 11 AM to 1 PM EDT.

This Zoom program is free to members of ASCH, SCEH, and the component sections.  There is a $15 fee for non-members.

Nicole Wegweiser, LCSW is an ASCH Certified Hypnotherapist and faculty member of the Clinical Hypnosis Society of New Jersey.  Nicole is the owner of her private practice, Mindful Therapy of Monmouth County in Matawan, NJ where she sees individuals and couples using a variety of modalities with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship, addiction, and eating/body image issues.  Nicole completed a one-year post masters training at the Women's Therapy Centre Institute entitled "Eating and the Body: A Cultural, Relational, Psychoanalytic Framework" in 2009, which informs her approach to Intuitive Eating.

Lauren Dorman, RD is a Registered Dietitian, nutrition therapist for 20 years specializing in chronic dieters and disordered eating.  She also enjoys working with families and children to create stress free mealtimes.  “My clients know that diets don’t work and have harmed their health and they are now free from the cycle.”  She works on a self care behavioral approach to healing one’s relationship with food, body, mind and themselves.  Lauren works virtual across the U.S or in person in Marlboro, New Jersey.
